Owl Cafe open in Japan

If you love cute things and travel to Japan, you may want to visit  the islands full of cats or the island full of  rabbits or even the island full of (very...cute!) sharks. But these are not super easy places to visit ( esp. when you are only visiting Tokyo).

Then, you already know that there are a lot of cat cafes in Japan. Recently (obviously...cute!) snake cafe in Harajuku. We also notice there are cat/dog cafes popping up internationally here and there.

But how about owl cafe? In our opinion, owl is like cat plus bird. Cat is cute, bird is also cute. Both cuties got together and become an owl!

Living with an owl sounds like the life in Harry Potter, right? Well, you can also experience it, easily, at an owl cafe.

For example, "Owl Shop( フクロウのみせ) " in Tsukishima, Tokyo. The cafe opened in October, 2012. There are around 10-15 owls in the cafe. The cost is 1000JPY per hour (as of Sept, 2016). You need to order at least one drink for 600JPY and alcohol 800JPY. The cafe is crowded on weekends.

There are not only owl cafes but several more bird cafes recently open in Japan. This may be a new trend.

We put the list of owl cafe below for your information.

Here is the list of major owl cafes in Tokyo area, Osaka, Kyoto and Fukuoka.

To save you trouble, better call up in advance and make reservation because some cafes only accept the visitors with reservation in advance. And the entrance fee is usually 1000-2000Jpy usually per hour (around 10-20USD subject to change from time to time). ( Some place has one drink incl. )

The list is on going and some new cafe opens and some closes.

FYI, some useful Japanese sentences and words for you. when you are in Japan, you can use these Japanese words and sentence. "Fukuro (pronounced as Hukurou)" means owl. You can ask "Fukuro cafe ha dokodesuka? (where can I find an owl cafe?)" around. "Kyou haire masuka? (Can I enter today?)" "nanji ni hairemasuka? (at what time can I enter?)" "Yoyaku ha nai desuga, kyou hairemasuka? (I have no reservation but can I enter today?)".
